ERICH TURRONI. Slaughterhouse-Five, tribute to KURT VONNEGUT<\/p>\n
Sotto le palpebre del giorno<\/em> (\u201cUnder the lids of the day\u201d lit<\/em>.) is a personal exhibition by Erich Turroni (Cesena, 1976), edited by Roberto Lacarbonara.<\/p>\n The event occurs for the Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007) centennial, one of the greatest writers of the 20th<\/sup> century and author of \u201cSlaughterhouse-Five, or the Children’s Crusade: A Duty-Dance with Death\u201d (1969), considered among the major records of the atrocious WW2 events.<\/p>\n The exhibition is created and promoted by The Cultural Assessor\u2019s office of Monopoli municipality with the support of \u201cPino Pascali Foundation\u201d based in Polignano a Mare;<\/p>\n Housed in the city centre located Air-raid Shelters, it recalls the war feelings through<\/p>\n Turroni\u2019s truthful, decadent and plain sculpturing style.<\/p>\n The author works resins and other synthetic materials to redefine the underground shelters spaces into a storage for bodies, fleshes and anatomic parts represented in the ghostly whiteness of the surfaces.<\/p>\n Ten sculptures and a gallery of large sanguine portraits fill the underground passageways and the old shelters infirmary; the shapes vaguely come out from diaphanous layers of fiberglass recalling intangible and imprinted presences, that feel and look like the rocks they emerge from.<\/p>\n The elements are unclear, rough-hewn, calcified in the harshness of the material but still able to take the observer into a surreal and dreamy dimension.<\/p>\n The exhibition sensitively honours the location history thanks to his great intensity; it is alternated with short excerpts from Kurt Vonnegut novel with the aim of narrating the history through the most clashing current issues.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Biographical Note <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Born in Cesena in 1976; lives and works in Gambettola (FC). His artistic research in the field of sculpture and painting is characterized by the use of materials and techniques of synthetic and industrial origin, from polyester to fiberglass and other plastics.<\/p>\n Among the recent exhibits there are the group ones in Bologna, Parma and Asti and the personal ones in Faenza (2001), Gambettola (2003 e 2005), Forl\u00ec (2006), Fano (2008,2021), Cesena (2009,2012), Modena (2009), Rimini (2016), Parigi (2018).<\/p>\n In 2007 creates the scenic elements of a play for the company \u201cMotus\u201d and in 2011 collaborates with the company \u201cTeatro Valdoca\u201d.<\/p>\n In 2008 takes part to the XV Quadriennale di Roma at Palazzo delle Esposizioni.<\/p>\n In 2021 is the guest of honour of the Phest | Festival photographic and contemporary art festival in Monopoli where exhibit a sculptural work located in the depth of the Cala Porta Vecchia sea.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Erich Turroni<\/strong><\/p>\n Sotto le palpebre del giorno\u00a0<\/em>|\u00a0Tribute to Kurt Vonnegut Monopoli, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele<\/p>\n From April 25 to September 30 2022.<\/p>\n Open on sundays from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM<\/p>\n Tickets: Info Point, Piazza Garibaldi 24<\/p>\n Promoting: The Cultural Assessor\u2019s office of Monopoli municipality<\/p>\n Supported by: Pino Pascali Foundation, Polignano a Mare<\/p>\n Catalogue: Sfera Edizioni (Bari, 2022)<\/p>\n
