For the fourth consecutive year the City of Monopoli has been awarded the Blue Flag, the recognition
issued by the Foundation for Environmental Education. The announcement was made on Tuesday 14 May
2024 during a press conference held in Rome, attended by Mayor Angelo Annese.
Monopoli is one of two towns along with Polignano a Mare to receive the Blue Flag in the province of Bari,
out of 24 flags awarded in Puglia.

The 2024 award marks the tenth Blue Flag received by the Municipality of Monopoli since the recognition
was established (2001, 2002, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022, 2023 e 2024).
The flag is awarded each year to seaside locations that represent excellence in terms of bathing water
quality, beach cleanliness quality of services, safety measures for bathers, adequate signage information on
the ecosystem and how to use the beach and environmental education initiatives.
