Bike sharing starts: 45 stations and 200 e-bikes. The service will be managed for a duration of nine years. Cost of 10 cents per minute for residents

The new fleet of shared electric bicycles has been inaugurated in Monopoli, which is part of the Apulian electric bike sharing offer of Bari and Taranto.

Now everyone will be able to move around without stress, leave their car at home and experience Monopolies on two wheels: perfect for going to work or enjoying every corner of the area in a sustainable way.
Just download the VAIMOO App, unlock your bike and go straight away – it’s easy, fast and green.

Bike Sharing, entrusted by the Municipality of Monopoli via public notice to Vaimoo srl (part of Angel Holding and based in Mola di Bari), provides 200 e-bikes distributed in 45 virtual stations spread throughout the city, up to the tourist area of Chapter.

«Monopoli confirms itself as a growing city, capable of innovating and offering modern services for citizens and tourists. The 200 e-bikes and 40 stations represent an important step towards more efficient and sustainable mobility. We want to promote a model of local excellence, strengthening the quality of urban life and consolidating our vision of a modern, welcoming and future-conscious Monopoli», says the Mayor of Monopoli Angelo Annese.

«This project represents much more than a transport service: it is a cultural change and an investment for the future of the city. E-bikes will help reduce traffic, improve air quality and create more livable spaces for all. Seeing that our work produces concrete results is a great satisfaction, and knowing that these choices will leave a lasting benefit for future generations motivates us to continue on this path. I thank the Mayor for delegating me to follow this project and the Manager Dr. Francesco Spinozzi for having achieved this objective», highlights Christian Campanelli, Municipal Councilor appointed by the Mayor to follow the bike sharing project.

«Thanks to the crucial contribution of MERMEC, I am excited to be able to guarantee my fellow citizens a concrete alternative to the private car for the next nine years, without the costs and inconveniences of parking. I am convinced that the bike sharing service will be a further decisive step towards a more modern, integrated, efficient and environmentally friendly system», underlines Matteo Pertosa, CEO and founder of VAIMOO.

The Bike Sharing initiative in Monopoli was made possible thanks to the support of the Mermec Group, which financed and sponsored the project for the next 9 years, guaranteeing discounted rates to Monopoli residents: 10 cents per minute, equal to 50 cents for a 5 minute move, compared to the approximately 2.50 euros required in cities such as Rome or Milan.

The new Bike Sharing fleet in Monopoli represents a further step towards the integration of electric bike sharing with local public transport, with the aim of promoting more sustainable, efficient and widespread mobility, improving service to citizens and optimizing public spending.

The Bike Sharing service in Monopoli will be progressively active starting from 23 September 2025. All information on fares and station locations is available at the link: https://monopoli.vaimoo.app/
